of Events of CRC: Month of March and
April, 08>
Addressing the problems which pose
hindrances in safeguarding the rights
of the child in Nepal as well as other
countries in the region, is a major
objective of CRC, and for this purpose
CRC, in the month of March has started
launching its activities for the cause.
The center has identified that a proper
networking system is very important
to learn about the status of children,
violation of their rights, and the emerging
issues regarding their rights. Thus,
to fulfill this need, CRC, with its
three interns and a co-ordinator, has
created a record book of the various
organizations that are concerned with
the child rights issues. Together with
it, various materials, as books, booklets,
Statistics, documents, pamphlets, posters,
CDs, VCDs on child rights issues have
been collected as resources for the
CRC Library. Three Documentary shows,
'Children's Voice Against Violence Against
Girls and Boys', 'Anuttarit Bal Aparadh',
'MASVAW-Changing the Courses, Men Voices
for Gender Equality and Stopping Violence',
have been shown in the CRC conference
hall to 58 participants in total. Subsequent
to each show, interesting discussions
on child rights issues were held. Along
with these, the review of national and
international news and also book reviews,
on child rights for the month of March
and April has been done, with the regular
updating of the CRC Information board.
The national news were more focused
on review of the urgent issued of child
rights, as free education, health, right
against exploitation, domestic child
workers problems, etc. that are to be
specially addressed by the upcoming
constituent assembly. The CRC information
brochure is now in progress.
Visit to different organizations to
initiate institutional collaboration
are being done. Also, the collection
of Supreme Court verdicts relevant to
child rights, has been commenced to
build the resource of the center further.
CRC was also actively involved in the
launching of the Clinical Legal Aid
Program, and now, it is collaborating
with the Criminal Justice Center of
KSL in a full-fledged level. It is aimed
that the cases, particularly that, which
will be brought about child rights issues,
will be specially in close observation
of CRC. The upcoming events at CRC include
regular documentary shows about child
rights, launching of awareness raising
programs to school-going children, by
inviting them for a program at KSL,
an orientation for the KSL students
about how co operation can be developed
for building a community surveillance
mechanism so that each student actively
initiates to report child rights violation
cases in our center, and also about
the scope of enlarging this checking
mechanism. CRC has been established
with the vision of institutionalizing
it as a very well set-up center for
all child rights related issues. Our
continuous progresses will be updated
on monthly basis, in this website.
