Criminal Law and Justice

Criminal Law & Justice Program has been initiated to foster professional and scholarly activities in the field of criminal justice. This masters degree provides a forum for disseminating ideas related to issues in research, policy, education, practice and analysis within the discipline of criminal justice for both educators and legal practitioners.

This degree attributes its success in grooming a dynamic legal profession as it enables the students to develop a specialized knowledge and skills to understand, analyze and respond to the recent development in the field of criminal law. It enables our law graduates to pursue carriers in legal practice as lawyers, prosecutors or court officials domestically and at international levels.

This LL.M. program has a close bearing with the issues of Human Rights and Fair Trail. It is concerned with the due process of law, forensic investigation and prosecution of criminal litigation, rehabilitation of children in conflict with laws, advocacy for justice to victims of crime and penalizing the offender for resocilaization

KSL has ventured this program at LL.M level to invite: Scholars having international and multidisciplinary orientation in the field of criminal science and Law graduates seeking to explore the criminal justice field as future scholars or practitioners.

The student shall be expected to abide by the following academic values:
  • Students must have completed LL.B./ BL in any faculty of Law from any accredited University.
  • Admission for Students based on the ability of the applicant to thrive in an academic program as per his/her academic record and professional achievements for which students must pass a written and verbal entrance examination after filling the admission form.

    (The academic session for LL.M program starts from the month of June each year)

Term Papers / First & Second Year

The preparation of term papers is an intellectual exercise in all LL.M program of KSL with multi fold objectives :
  • To impart knowledge on the process & methods involved for conducting research in the wide field of criminal justice system.

  • To impart professional skills and techniques of objective writing, formulation of hypothesis, statement of problem, citation & stylistics.

  • To boost up the participants with skills and confidence to present their papers amongst the national and international delegates.
The term papers needs to be submitted in all the subjects of 1st & 2nd Year. that obtain a credit of 20% marks. It is presented for discussion.

terminal assessment >

Three terminal assessments will be held before the candidate is sent up for the University exams. Each candidate has to clear his terminal assessment in order to qualify for appearing in the final exams. A total of 20% marks is credited to the three internal assessments conducted by the school.
