KSL has initiated a two year LLM Program
on Human Rights and Gender Justice from
the year 2002.
This course is designed with an objective
to introduce students with Nepalese jurisprudence
on Human Rights and Gender Justice, in
lieu of international Human Rights instruments.
KSL is a pioneer institute to offer this
type of course not only in Nepal but also
in the South Asian Region. In this course,
emphasis has been given to generate a
group of lawyers and experts with adequate
knowledge and skill of applying international
human rights standards in domestic situation
and serious concern is paid with the reference
to transitional societies like Nepal.
The fundamental goal of this course is
to transform Nepalese Legal system into
global standard by rationalizing the existing
traditional legal system in Nepal

- To make student
aware of conceptual framework and
nature of human rights law and it’s
implementation
- To familiarize them with the basic
principles underlying in the course
of study
- To acquaint them with the evolutionary
process of law in the context of social,
political, economic and other factors.
- Exposition of subject matter in
detail with the help of legislative,
Judicial and other international legal
instruments.
- To assess the capability to:
(a) Interpret and evaluate law, legal
process and domestic/ international
legal institutions
(b) Analyze factual and legal situation
and suggest probable general solution
(c) Evaluate social needs and suggest
viable solution through the modification
of existing laws, processes and institutions.
- To introduce research methodology
and it’s practical applications
in the field of human rights.
- To train students in writing research
papers/dissertations.

The student shall be expected to abide
by the following academic values:
- Sound understanding of basic principles
of the course.
- Acquaint themselves with the statutory,
judicial and other resource materials
comparing with international standards.
- Coherent and reasoned expression
s of human rights norms.
- Solution of given problems in the
context of law and to practicing recognized
principles of justice.
- Anticipation of legal solution to
evolve societal needs, capacity for
critical appreciation of human rights
and application.
- Familiarity with the elementary
rules of legal research methodology
and practice in legal research.

The student shall be
expected to abide by the following academic
values:
- Students must have completed LL.B./
BL in any faculty of Law from any
accredited University.
- Admission for Students based on
the ability of the applicant to thrive
in an academic program as per his
/ her academic record and professional
achievements for which students must
pass a written and verbal entrance
examination after filling the admission
form.
(The academic session for LL.M program
starts from the month of June each
year)

Term Papers / First & Second Year
The
preparation of term papers is an
intellectual exercise in all LL.M
programe of KSL with multi fold
objectives. |
- To impart knowledge on the
process & methods involved
for conducting research in the
wide field of criminal justice
system.
- To impart professional skills
and techniques of objective
writing, formulation of hypothesis,
statement of problem, citation
& stylistics.
- To boost up the participants
with skills and confidence to
present their papers amongst
the national and international
delegates.

| The term papers needs to be submitted
in all the subjects of 1st & 2nd
Year. that obtain a credit of 20%
marks. It is presented for discussion. |

assessment >
Three terminal assessments will be held
before the candidate is sent up for the
University exams. Each candidate has to
clear his terminal assessment in order
to qualify for appearing in the final
exams. A total of 20% marks is credited
to the three internal assessments conducted
by the school.
