Kathmandu School of Law, Nepal in collaboration with Fairfield Institute of Management and Technology, New Delhi, India successfully conducted the 12thInternational Winter Residential School on Economic, Social and Development Rights 2017. This year’s theme was "South-Asia China Connectivity for Regional Economic Social Development". The program started from 24th October and was concluded in the 13th November 2017.
The 21 days long program was conducted at the extended Outreach Campus of Kathmandu School of Law located in Kavre District, Nepal. Out of 39 participants, 18 were from Kathmandu School of Law, 1 from Armed Police Force, Nepal, 3 participants were from Pakistan, 1 participant was from Australia, 5 were from Bangladesh, 3 were from China and 7 of the participantswere from India. This year,the Residential School covered the topics like Belt and Road Initiative by China, Regional Organizations for Development, Regional Integration and Economic Social and Development Rights. The classes this year also focused on Human rights and Politics, Political Instability and Good Governance, Social Structure, Human Rights and Global Governance, Human Rights in Perspective of Development and Democracy, Regional Human Right Mechanism, Justisiability of ESDR, Development and Poverty along with Inequality andClimate Change.
All the participants were actively involved throughout the program making the 12th International Residential School more fruitful and coherent. Alsoprofessorsfrom India, China, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal were invited to expand horizon and provide deeper understanding of the topics to the students. On the final day of the Residential School Diploma, Awards and Certificate of Participation were distributed to the deserving candidates. A Role Play competition was held on the final day which involved major themes and subjects that were dealt in the Residential School.
Naman Shukla who was the participant from India was successful to achieve ESDR Fellowship Award 2017 for his excellentperformance throughout the program. Similarly, Academic ExcellenceAward 2017 was shared by Li Jiang from China and Anuj Chand from Nepal. Bishnu Bikram Karki from Nepal was awarded with Social Distinction Award 2017. Li Jiang from China, Aditya Pandey from India, Neeta Poudel, Riya Bhattarai and Nirwan Jung Karki from Nepal received Team Spirit Award 2017 for their outstanding performance in Role Play Competition.Out of 39 participants, 31 students were awarded the diploma.
